FORMER ENUGU STATE GOVERNOR’S AIDE, HON. CC. OZIOKOJA OZIOKO, FOILS ALLEGED APC ATTEMPT TO DISRUPT NDC REPS CANDIDATE FOR NSUKKA IGBO-EZE SOUTH FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY, IKEMBA’S VISIT TO EDEM-ANI OGWUGWU COMMUNITY, CALLS ON APC GOVERNMENT IN ENUGU STATE TO LEAD BY EXAMPLE.


Former aide to the Governor of Enugu State, Hon. CC. Oziokoja Ozioko, has strongly condemned and successfully countered an alleged attempt by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to disrupt the scheduled visit of Hon. Dr. Hilary Onyishi (IKEMBA), NDC Candidate for the Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency, to Edem-Ani Ogwugwu Community, in Edem Ani ward in Nsukka LGA, Enugu State, Nigeria. on 2nd September 2026.

The development has once again highlighted the importance of political maturity, democratic tolerance, peaceful engagement and respect for the constitutional rights of citizens to freely associate with, receive and interact with candidates of their choice in 2027 General Elections.

The visit by Hon. Dr. Hilary Onyishi (IKEMBA) was designed to strengthen grassroots engagement, deepen community consultation and further consolidate the relationship between the candidate and his

people. Despite the alleged attempt to frustrate the engagement, the people of Edem-Ani Ogwugwu demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm, unity and hospitality in welcoming IKEMBA to the community.

Speaking on the development, Hon. CC. Oziokoja Ozioko called on the APC and all political actors to embrace the principles of political tolerance, sportsmanship, peaceful competition and democratic responsibility.

He stressed that politics should be about ideas, programmes, policies and the capacity to serve the people—not intimidation, obstruction or unnecessary confrontation. According to him, every political party and candidate has a responsibility to create an atmosphere where citizens can freely make informed choices without interference.

“APC should lead by example. Democracy thrives when political parties respect one another, engage constructively and allow the people to freely determine who they want to support. The people’s mandate cannot be suppressed through intimidation or disruption. It can only be earned through service, credibility, competence and genuine connection with the grassroots.”

The successful engagement at Edem-Ani Ogwugwu Community further demonstrated the growing enthusiasm surrounding IKEMBA’s grassroots movement and the increasing demand for purposeful, visionary, accountable and people-centred representation.

Rather than being distracted by political obstacles, the movement remains focused on its core objective: bringing leadership closer to the people, listening to their concerns and building a stronger platform for sustainable development across Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency.

The people have spoken through their warm reception, their participation and their continued demand for quality representation, responsible leadership and a new political direction.

At this critical moment in our democratic journey, all political parties are encouraged to embrace issue-based politics, peaceful mobilisation, constructive competition and respect for the will of the electorate.

The people deserve politics of development, not division; politics of ideas, not intimidation; and politics of service, not self-interest.
