A significant political milestone has been recorded in the Enugu North Senatorial Zone as Chief Dr. Hilary Onyishi (Ike Mba), a distinguished United States based technocrat and illustrious son of Edem in Nsukka West Development Centre, Enugu State, formally declared his intention to contest for the Senate under the platform of the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC).

In his declaration speech, Dr. Onyishi highlighted the urgent need for purposeful, visionary, and quality leadership in the Senatorial Zone. He noted that, over the years, Enugu North has faced persistent challenges arising from ineffective representation, limited grassroots engagement, and the absence of clear and strategic policy direction. According to him, the time has come for a transformative leadership approach one firmly anchored on competence, integrity, inclusiveness, and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people.

He emphasized that quality leadership in the Senate must transcend mere representation. It must reflect accountability, accessibility, legislative competence, and the capacity to attract meaningful development to the constituency. Dr. Onyishi outlined his vision to represent the good people of Enugu North Senatorial Zone by listening attentively, understanding their needs, and acting decisively in their best interests. He pledged to champion policies that will stimulate economic growth, improve infrastructure, create sustainable employment opportunities, and strengthen key sectors such as education, healthcare, and social services across the zone.
